We exist to move people.
— Coco Teodoro

Cocomotion’s mission statement:

We practice asana. Asana is the physical movement within a yoga practice. We are teaching others to tie breath, focus, and physical movement together, creating a flow. Flow creates ease. Ease allows you to progress on the mat, and follows you off the mat.

Our classes are designed to make you stronger, more flexible, and offers a meditation experience. We look at a 3000 year old philosophy to get stronger, and truthfully to eliminate your gym membership. Through our movement, your body becomes your gym.

We are a yoga studio that focuses on meditation, movement and breath. We emphasize on the Asana (Physical movement) and Pranayama (Breath work) practice to help us with our every day lives. To bend easier, sit easier, and pick things up easier. Through repetition in our classes, we build up your heart rate and create a room of working bodies. This allows people to lose weight, feel good and introduce an overall holistic wellness for everyone walking in and out of the door.

For a lot of people who practice with us, it is to help them let go and come back to a meditative flow. Meditation is one point of focus for a certain amount of time. We want to be a studio that focuses on asana, pranayama, and meditation all together. We pride ourselves in being the people who help you build the foundation for your yoga practice. Opening you up to what comes next; that is, if you would like. We are yoga for the regular people, and for the masses. We give everyone a chance and opportunity to do yoga on all levels.

“We exist to move people” is more then the word movement, meaning to physically move. It can be how you look at the world, how you breathe, how you experience relationships, and how you look at your life. People become more open and vulnerable through their body and their perspective.

“I hope what we do moves people to be the best person they can be. Lets move!”

- Coco

“Starting a new practice can be daunting, but as Coco always says: ‘Show up. S*** changes.’ Don't give up! Everything takes time to become part of your daily routine, but if you stick at it, the benefits are endless.
Don't let your rigidity, lack of experience or lack of confidence put you off taking on yoga as a form of personal development and relaxation.
'It hurts, until one day, boom!'“

Coco was recently interviewed by Gary Leuis of
“The Soul Pod” and we are loving the synergy of the conversation between these two.

Neurographic Design & Meditation
with Coco & Jane

Sunday, February 6, 2022
4:00-6:00pm

Neurographic art is a simple way to work with the subconscious mind through drawing. We have the capacity to transform stress and fear by drawing free form lines and later, painting and using a specific algorithm to transform the stress into a
beautiful work of art.

Neuron: A cell that carries messages between the brain and the body
(central Nervous system)

Graphic: Artistic expression of shapes, pictures and words

We will paint rounded shapes connected by lines similar to atoms or molecules. The circles and lines we create are a reflection of the natural
visuals of the universe.

This can be psychological activity or simply a meditation to lose yourself and connect with the art making process.

Join us to let your creative energy flow. Don't worry about the end result, simply enjoy the process you went through to get there.

And so it is life, Don't worry about the destination, simply enjoy the journey!

We are coming together on Sunday, February 6
4:00pm- 6:00pm

$30 Exchange Includes Meditation, Creation & supplies.
BYOB if you'd like!

Love is a state of existence. Yoga will guide you to the thoughts that disturb the inherent health and well being that already exist at your core. Discovering your breath will allow you to trust that your happiness already lies within your soul.

The yogic path is the journey of our union with the heartbeat of the Universe, the essence which resides in all of us. We are all One. Aum. We are Limitless. Ananta. We are all made of energy and our nature, just like the universe, is movement and change. Spanda

To move myself.

To move others.

To move the practice of yoga ahead.

When I first started, yoga was something I needed to do for my own well-being, both health-wise and spiritually.

But along my journey, I discovered a passion for teaching and—hopefully—inspiring.

By observing the movement of real people in the real world I was inspired by a collective of yoga philosophy like Iyengar, Ashtanga, and Dharma yoga, and the world and waves around me. I developed a standard sequence that begins with an awakening series leading into a beautifully bold vinyasa flow. Partnered with the movement, the environment is created for the mover to push themselves through challenge with breath. True meditation exists within the motion. The flow presents challenges to the student as opportunities to experience the truth of the body and its connection to the mind and spirit. There are no walls, boundaries or pinnacle point, the practice transforms as the connection to the soul expands. Deep connection exists between the diverse members of our sangha, community. It is a real practice for real people. It is more than asana. It extends far beyond the mat. It is an exhilarating flow for a free life.

I look forward to taking my unique style, and perspective on yoga and movement to the next level with you.

So they say when you discover your personal legend that the first steps come with so much ease and peace. Then the challenges seek you out in all forms of lessons and trials. From there, you recognize the waves, the ebbs and flows, and eventually the challenges make you smile because you recognize them as symbols of growth. This is my yoga. I live yoga and through it I came to know who I am. Before the practice, anxiety ruled my thoughts and interfered with so much of my creative expression. Now, I understand that I can make decisions and live so freely because I trust myself. I trust my practice, my breath, my health, and my thinking mind.

I love to go upside down because in that moment, there is only consciousness and my world pauses. Only my breath and the intensity in my own hands exist. In those moments I learn stillness. “The lake is still, When I’m quiet I heal, Only Love is real.” -MC Yogi

So finding yourself is hard, serving others is finding yourself. Through love and passion we have the power to inspire others to live their best life. I want to show you that Love is a state of existence. Yoga will guide you to the thoughts that disturb the inherent health and well being that already exist at your core. Discovering your breath will allow you to trust that your happiness already lies within your soul. Soul seeking starts from within. First we build a relationship with the universe through deep breathing, then the layers. Strength first, then control, then sensitivity. Every class is an opportunity to draw in like minds and create energy through flow that we can all experience. Once we practice together, you're in my heart

By day I work in the IT field maintaining computer networks, never thought I’d be teaching yoga. A little over a year ago I embarked on this journey of self-discovery and fell in love with powerlifting and yoga. Through Yoga and movement, I've discovered parts of myself I never thought possible. My True Self, my strengths, opportunity, etc. but most importantly my CONFIDENCE, My voice. Every day is a new journey. I love to share my experiences with others who begin their relationship with yoga, opening their hearts and minds. When you enter the studio, regardless of what you’re going through, the asana allows you to challenge yourself, shed the monkey mind, to be vulnerable, free of labels, to be YOU!

OUR COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT IS A COLLECTION OF STORIES AND INTERVIEWS ABOUT THE BEAUTIFUL MEMBERS OF OUR FAMILY THAT HAVE MOVED US IN A WAY THAT WE’VE NEVER BEEN MOVED BEFORE.

IN THIS MONTHS NEW COMMUNITY SPOTLIGHT WE HAD THE BLESSING TO SIT AND TALK WITH BARBARA WELTSEK, A LOCAL ARTIST AND BELOVED STUDENT, ABOUT HER YOGIC JOURNEY, INSPIRATIONS, AND CREATIONS.

What moves you Barbara to create such beauty thought art? and to then share it so freely and fearlessly?

Wow! "Freely and fearlessly"- Not!  I wanted to fill the blank space where it now hangs and knew the materials I'd like to see there.  I tried to make it a collaboration because I didn't want to be presumptuous in hanging my "art" on someone else's real estate!  The doing can be fearless; the sharing, not so much. I have no training and often wonder if that holds me back.

Why do you create?

I have always created something-painted discarded fencing to flags, fairy gardens in my yard- living plants, my vegetable garden has art elements-I built my potting bench from garbage, an ancient copper screen bears my version of Starry Night. My husband brings home items thrown in the garbage that he thinks I can transform.  He's very inspiring with his challenges. I hang on to things other toss and wait for them to talk to me. My daughter's old bed slats told me to do this.

of all the spaces + studios to practice yoga + meditation why did you choose us, the speakeasy of breath and movement tucked in next to a trash compactor in the back parking lot of Marshals? `

This past October I had to make some major changes in my life for my health and I had done yoga about 10 years ago.  There was in a quaint storefront with a devoted teacher and a fabulous group. She lost her lease and rented the corner of a karate studio.  The vibe was killed. I stopped. November past I looked for another quaint studio. I tried 6 studios and did not feel anything beyond rote poses.  I tried Coco's. The community is just that- a community. People talk to each other and share non-yoga elements of their lives. The teachers seem to float effortlessly and treat students as if they can too.  It's a very loving atmosphere. And there is poetry and beauty in the words I hear from them in class. It seems those words flow into gently commandments unique to the Coco practice. (and Coco's unique prompts peppered in salty terms) I've been to other studios.  I've not heard poetic encouragement or words beyond prompts. I codified the words that touched me uttered by unaware teachers just being their nurturing selves. And the bonus of art appreciation tied into yoga is inspirational in itself.

But Barbara, this creation is truly one of a kind, what is the divine madness that inspired such moving work of art?

This piece I’ve titled "Coco's Commandments" and I wanted the slats to mimic the stained lumber at your flagship Patchogue Village location. I wanted the "COCOMOTIONYOGA" in brushed silver letters to form an "X" from corner to corner, forwards and backwards (like yoga moves).

But the puzzle to me is the real art; fitting the poetic language and Coco's tag lined (breathe muthafucka, show up shit changes, etc. was a challenge that took over  months- I'd hear something new and have to rearrange things- but what a joyful project.

In hanging it, I wanted to bring in Coco's Urban Zen aesthetic and used chains and locks- that's also why the X letters are brushed metal.

As stated, I was tentative about being presumptuous that you'd want to hang it. But the vibe of the studio lends itself to some fierceness. And when Christianne popped over and encouraged me- I thought it was be OK.

I am so moved by nurturing people, unique places and garbage my ever-loving husband challenges me with.

We love you guys and I look forward to art and yoga with you!

Barbara we are so thankful for you sharing your story, inspiration, and light with us and our community, BIG LOVE!
